Online communication methods for the Boards

By wreford - Posted on 04 May 2009

I'd like to suggest that the Board use this website as an organising tool.

There might be easier ways, such as email, and we no doubt will continue to use that, but the advantage of working together while getting used to the site, and keeping a record of decisions, etc. is important.

One way to use the site is to use forums. I'm hoping that a more structured set of discussions that can be held over time will be more productive than email, which is ephemeral and dispersed.

There are many different possible enhancements to the site software, Drupal, to allow for better networking amongst organisers.

We could set up a basecamp.com (or similar) account dedicated to project management tools, and move all the housekeeping off site.

I could install a wiki on the server. It would add a wiki to the domain, wiki.digitalpoetryarchive.ca. We're all familiar with that, right? It's friendly and it builds a kind of document library that can be very useful.

Opinions and suggestions?

blog posts have comment sections that can be used like the forum postings

the forum allows us to organize threads, easier to find content.

I'm looking into our best options for managing access to the forums, so that we have some privacy available.
