AGM Confirmed for Friday, May 01, 2:00 - 4:00 pm

Our first Annual General Meeting of the society will take place at the Roundhouse Community Center in Vancouver on May 01, 2009, from 2:00-4:00. We will be meeting in Room C. I hope you'll book off a bit of time after as well. I'll post a meeting agenda on Monday, but our main goal will be to finalize some business of setting up the society and to lay out our strategic plan for the first year of operation. This is a general public call to all interested in the society and in becoming members as well. Hope to see you there.

AGM Meeting Dates

Hi Folks,

I am trying to set up a date for the AGM. I have booked the roundhouse community center in Vancouver for May 02, but Francis cannot make it. I need to get a sense if we are able to meet on a Friday, say between 2-4 pm. If so, I'll change the date to May 01. If not, we may need to try for a Sunday. So, perhaps a poll? I will contact all personally this weekend to see if I can find a date that works for everyone. (We need all the directors there to have a quorum.)

An Invite to My Defense & Party

If any are wondering why I've been so quiet for the past few weeks, this is a bit of explanation, and an open invite to my doctoral examination and the reception / party to follow.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 9:00am in Room 200 of the Graduate Student Centre, University of British Columbia.

Reception: 7:00-9:00 pm, 31 March, 4726 Collingwood Street, near the crossroads of Collingwood and 31 Street in the Dunbar area of Vancouver.
BYOB--all are welcome.

Defining Digital Poetry

I'd like to open up a discussion to our directors and advisors regarding the term "digital poetry". Later this week we'll move on to the next term, "archive". There's also room to continue and discuss the what / how / who implied by "of Canada". I'd like to reference a recent email Lionel sent to me. In it, he poses a certain question about the definition of our society in a very succinct way. Lionel says: "Of course it also depends whether DPAC means (1) An archive of Canadian digital poetry, or

Certificate of Incorporation and Chris Funkhouser, Our New Advisory Board Member

Good news on several fronts. First is that we have now recieved our Certificate of Incorporation, dated February 12, 2009, and may proceed with several pressing details.I will meet with Francis next week to set up our bank account, and discuss avenues for structure and funding around the archives. I'll blog the results so that we can begin a discussion forum, particularly as this concerns initial projects and opertional funding.
